of BlackBerry Messenger for iOS and Android platforms, leaks related to
the popular messaging service are surfacing online.
BlackBerryOS.com
has posted a video that reveals the features of the BBM Android app.
The video shows a beta version of BBM for Android running on an HTC
First smartphone which the site claims is running well despite the HTC
First not being a high-end device. The app seen in the video suggests
similar features for the Android version as we’ve seen on the
messenger’s BlackBerry version, with NFC sharing through Android Beam
being included. However, the video has now been pulled down by the site
on the request of the Canadian handset maker.
The site also notes
that the BlackBerry Messenger app will be official by the end of this
month and that the app will be available through respective app stores
for both Android and iPhone users.
Recently, a landing page
dedicated to BBM surfaced on the official site of the company, claiming that the BBM service
had arrived for both, Android and Apple platforms. The dedicated page
for the service said, “BBM for Android and iPhone is here.”
However,
the landing page was pulled later and was replaced with a launch page
that says, “BBM is coming to Android and iPhone” and included an option
to get notified when the service launches through an email prompt. It is
also worth pointing out that the landing page that was removed
displayed iPhone instead of iOS, which hinted that the BBM service may
be rolled out to iPhone users initially and an iPad app might not be in
the works.
